No. 126R E S O L U T I O NWHEREAS, Each holiday season, the Lone Star CelebrationChristmas Tree welcomes visitors to the House chamber in the StateCapitol, and in 2024, Gabriela Garza of Edinburg North High Schoolwas selected to be the designer of the ornament for HouseDistrict 35; andWHEREAS, The daughter of Julio and Maria Garza, Gaby Garza isa junior at Edinburg North High and has distinguished herselfthrough her exceptional talent in art; she has taken the AP Drawingcourse and received a score of 5 for her portfolio in the 2D Designcourse, one of the highest rankings in the nation, and during hersophomore year, she advanced to the statewide Visual ArtsScholastic Event and won the prestigious Gold Seal Medallion;moreover, she has exhibited her work to tremendous success at theRio Grande Valley Livestock Show, where she was crowned grandchampion, and at the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival, where shewas named overall champion in the art contest; andWHEREAS, Recognized as one of the most promising youngartists of the Rio Grande Valley, Ms. Garza achieved a remarkablefeat by being selected as a winner of the Congressional ArtCompetition for two years in a row; as the honoree for Texas' 15thCongressional District, she was chosen to have two of her piecesdisplayed at the U.S. Capitol as part of an exhibit that is viewedby millions of visitors each year; andWHEREAS, In crafting the ornament for House District 35, GabyGarza is helping to further one of the State Capitol's most iconicholiday traditions, and it is a pleasure to join her family, herschool, and her community in honoring this fine young Texan for herachievements; now, therefore, be itRESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th TexasLegislature hereby commend Gabriela Garza for designing the HouseDistrict 35 ornament for the Lone Star Celebration Christmas Treeand extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in allher endeavors; and, be it furtherRESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution beprepared for Ms. Garza as an expression of high regard by the TexasHouse of Representatives.Longoria______________________________Speaker of the HouseI certify that H.R.
