5 Subject: Crimes; weapons; automatic opening knives
6 Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to remove
7 criminal penalties for the possession, sale, or offering for sale of automatic
8 opening knives, such as switchblade knives.
9    An act relating to automatic opening knives
10 It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
11 Sec. 1. 13 V.S.A. § 4013 is amended to read:
12 § 4013. ZIP GUNS; SWITCHBLADE KNIVES
13    A person who possesses, sells, or offers for sale a weapon commonly
14 known as a “zip” gun, or a weapon commonly known as a switchblade knife,
15 the blade of which is three inches or more in length, shall be imprisoned not
16 more than 90 days or fined not more than $100.00, or both.
17 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE
18    This act shall take effect on passage.
