No. 62025-2026Senators Gavarone, TimkenA JOINT RESOLUTIONApplying to the Congress of the United States for a 1limited national convention for the exclusive purpose 2of proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the 3United States to establish term limits for members of 4Congress. 5BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:WHEREAS, Article V of the Constitution of the United 6States requires the Congress of the United States to call a 7convention for proposing amendments to the Constitution of the 8United States upon the application of two-thirds of the 9legislatures of the several States; now therefore be it 10RESOLVED, That the Ohio General Assembly hereby makes an 11application to Congress, as provided by Article V of the 12Constitution of the United States, to call a convention limited 13to proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United 14States to set a limit on the number of terms that a person may 15be elected as a Member of the United States House of 16Representatives and to set a limit on the number of terms that a 17person may be elected as a Member of the United States Senate; 18and be it further 19RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives 20S. J. R. No. 6 Page 2As Introducedis hereby directed to transmit duly authenticated copies of this 21resolution to the President and Secretary of the United States 22Senate, the Speaker, Clerk, and Chairperson of the Judiciary 23Committee of the United States House of Representatives, the 24members of the United States Senate and United States House of 25Representatives from this State, and the presiding officers of 26all of the legislative houses in the several States, requesting 27their cooperation; and be it further 28RESOLVED, That this application shall be considered as 29covering the same subject matter as the applications from other 30States to Congress to call a convention to set a limit on the 31number of terms that a person may be elected to the United 32States House of Representatives and the United States Senate, 33and this application shall be aggregated with the same for the 34purpose of attaining the two-thirds of States necessary to 35require Congress to call a limited convention on this subject, 36but shall not be aggregated with any other applications on any 37other subject; and be it further 38RESOLVED, That this application constitutes a continuing 39application in accordance with Article V of the Constitution of 40the United States until the legislatures of at least two-thirds 41of the several States have made applications on the same 42subject. 43
