(Local)Sponsors: Representatives Shepard and Gable (Primary Sponsors).For a complete list of sponsors, refer to the North Carolina General Assembly web site.Referred to: Judiciary 1, if favorable, State and Local Government, if favorable, Rules,Calendar, and Operations of the HouseMarch 10, 20251A BILL TO BE ENTITLED2 AN ACT PROVIDING THAT THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE SHALL EXERCISE3 PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY ONLY WITHIN THE CITY'S4 CONTIGUOUS CORPORATE LIMITS.5 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:6SECTION 1.(a) Notwithstanding the provisions of G.S. 160D-202, or any other7 provision of law, the City of Jacksonville shall not exercise any powers granted to cities in8 Chapter 160D of the General Statutes in any area beyond its contiguous corporate limits.9SECTION 1.(b) The relinquishment of jurisdiction by the City of Jacksonville over10 the area beyond its contiguous corporate limits shall become effective on the date this act11 becomes law; provided, however, the City of Jacksonville's development regulations and powers12 of enforcement shall remain in effect in that area until the time provided in G.S. 160D-202(h).13SECTION 2.
