5 Subject: Regulated drugs; overdose prevention centers
6 Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to require the
7 legislative body of a municipality to approve the operation of overdose
8 prevention centers prior to operation of any center in the municipality.
9    An act relating to requiring prior approval by a municipality to operate an
10    overdose prevention center
11 It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
12 Sec. 1. 18 V.S.A. § 4256 is amended to read:
13 § 4256. OVERDOSE PREVENTION CENTERS

15    (f) An overdose prevention center shall not operate within a municipality
16 unless the legislative body of the municipality by majority vote approves the
17 operation of overdose prevention centers in the municipality. For purposes of
18 this subsection, “municipality” means a city or town.
19 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE
20    This act shall take effect on passage.
