Burlington on being named as the 2025 Vermont Mother of the Year.

Offered by Representatives Branagan of Georgia, Hooper of Burlington, and Ode of
Burlington
Whereas, Kathleen Lynch was born to Fred and Kathleen Connor in Worcester,
Massachusetts, and faith and family were central in the Connor family, and
Whereas, after graduating from the Saint Vincent Hospital School of Nursing, she
devoted an astounding 47 years to surgical nursing, primarily at the hospital now known
as the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMC), and
Whereas, she married now-retired UVMC anesthesiologist Dr. Terrance Lynch, and
they are the proud parents of seven children and have two grandchildren, and
Whereas, in 2010, her family assisted in the early Champlain Valley Down Syndrome
Group’s activities, and the Lynch family continues to support the Buddy Walk in
Burlington, and
Whereas, since 1935, American Mothers, Inc. has annually, with the participation of
local members, designated a Mother of the Year for every state, the District of Columbia,
and Puerto Rico, and from the 2025 selections, a National Mother of the Year will be
chosen at a convention to be held this year in Puerto Rico, and
Whereas, a Mother of the Year has demonstrated a strong commitment to the role of
motherhood and serving her community, and
Whereas, Kathleen Lynch has been deservedly honored as the 2025 Vermont Mother
of the Year, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates Kathleen Lynch of Burlington on being
named as the 2025 Vermont Mother of the Year, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
Kathleen Lynch.
