Whereas, the circus arts provide entertainment and excitement, both internationally
and in Vermont, where there is a vibrant circus community, and they foster creativity,
demand physical skill, and are engaging for all ages, and
Whereas, for the 15th consecutive year, the Federation Mondiale du Cirque, of which
Princess Stéphanie of Monaco serves as honorary president, is designating the third
Saturday in April as World Circus Day, which in 2025 will occur on April 19, and
Whereas, among the extensive Vermont schedule of area commemorative events
celebrating World Circus Day are the New England Center for Circus Arts’ preview of
the ProTrack Circus Springboard Show in Brattleboro; Nimble Arts launching its
LakeSide Studio circus and tree dancing workshops in Tinmouth; the Circus Minimus
retreat in Lenox, Massachusetts, featuring participants ranging from seven to 77 years of
age; Wunderle’s Big Top Adventure’s Circus Vacation Camp at the Southern Vermont
Arts Center in Manchester; the Diamond Family Circus’s annual circus art workshops for
seniors and adults with disabilities in Island Pond; the fifth online Vermont-based Circus
International Film Festival; Maia Castro-Santos’s rehearsal at Burlington’s Lines
Vermont Dance Studio and Store for her aerial students scheduled to perform in the
studio’s spring showcase; and the Upper Valley Circus Collective’s spring classes, and
Whereas, observing World Circus Day in Vermont is most fitting for a State where the
circus arts play such prominent artistic and cultural roles, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly recognizes April 19, 2025 as World Circus Day in
Vermont, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
the New England Center for Circus Arts.
