hb4360/introduced.txtHOUSE BILL NO. 4360A bill to amend 1909 PA 278, entitled"The home rule village act,"(MCL 78.1 to 78.28) by adding section 24e.the people of the state of michigan enact:Sec. 24e. (1) Exceptas otherwise provided in this section and notwithstanding any charter provisionto the contrary, all terms of village officers elected after December 31, 2024 mustnot commence earlier than at 12 noon on December 1 following the officer'selection. If a village's charter provides for terms of village officers tocommence after an election and before December 1, all terms of village officerselected in that village after December 31, 2024 commence at 12 noon on December1.(2)Notwithstanding any charter provision to the contrary, an individual elected tofill a vacancy shall not take the oath of office until the results have beencertified by the appropriate board of canvassers.
