Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A house RESOLUTIONTO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR Mary Louise "Mary Lou"Reynolds Lee, beloved second grade teacher at Wilson Hall, UPON THE OCCASION OFHER RETIREMENT AFTER fifty-SIX YEARS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE, AND TO WISH HERCONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.Whereas, the members ofthe South Carolina House of Representatives have learned that Mary Lou ReynoldsLee will begin a well-deserved retirement after fifty-six years as a highlyregarded teacher at Wilson Hall; andWhereas, having grownup in Pinewood, Mary Lou graduated from Furman High School and earned abachelor's degree in 1967 from then all-female Winthrop College, which wasfounded as a teachers' college; andWhereas, she and herbeloved husband, Jimmy Lee, were married on July 26, 1969. Together they rearedtwo fine sons, Tripp from Sumter and Todd from Mt. Pleasant. Tripp and hiswife, Elizabeth, along with Todd and his wife, Lucy, have blessed them with theaffection of six loving grandchildren; andWhereas, Mrs. Lee spenther career as an educator in the Midlands. She taught an estimated one thousandtwo hundred children in her career: two years at Wade Hampton Academy inOrangeburg and fifty-five years at Wilson Hall in Sumter, teaching mostlysecond and some third grade classes; andWhereas, her dedicationas a teacher was honored when she was named Teacher of the Year, as the first recipientin 2003 of the Margaret West Award, and with the 2005 Nash Award for TeacherAdvancement. March 22, 2020, was designated "Mary Lou Lee Day" in honor of theanniversary of her fiftieth year of teaching at Wilson Hall; andWhereas, grateful forher many years of distinguished service to the education of students at WilsonHall, the South Carolina House of Representatives takes great pleasure inextending best wishes to Mary Lou Lee as she transitions to a richly deservedretirement and the unhurried pace of the days ahead, and the members wish hermany years of enjoyment in her well-earned retirement.
