Maine Criminal Justice Academy to convene working group.Resolved: That the Director of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, pursuant to theMaine Revised Statutes, Title 25, section 2804-A, shall convene a working group thatincludes representatives from each federally recognized Indian nation, tribe or band in theState that employs tribal law enforcement officers. The working group shall study theeligibility of tribal law enforcement officers who have received training from the UnitedStates Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Indian Police Academy toreceive a waiver for the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's basic law enforcement trainingrequirements under Title 25, section 2804-C.Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That, by January 1, 2026, the Director of the MaineCriminal Justice Academy shall submit a report that includes the findings andrecommendations of the working group under section 1, including suggested legislation, tothe Joint Standing Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety.
