Longway is retiring as the NorthwestRegion chief of the Texas Department of Public Safety on August 31,2025, drawing to a close an exceptional career with the agency thathas spanned more than 36 years; andWHEREAS, Joe Longway joined the ranks of the Texas Departmentof Public Safety in October 1988, and after completing training atthe DPS Academy, he was stationed in Amarillo as a highway patrolofficer; he was later assigned to Houston, Groom, and Lubbock, andhe served as a narcotics investigator before joining the criminalinvestigations division in 2009; he was appointed as regionaldirector in August 2019, and he has since provided exceptionalleadership to the agency's Northwest Texas Region; andWHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Air Force,Mr. Longway holds a bachelor's degree from Wayland BaptistUniversity and an associate's degree from Chaminade University ofHonolulu; over the years, he has honed his abilities throughtraining at the DEA Drug Unit Commander's Academy, the NorthwesternUniversity School of Police Staff & Command, and the FBI NationalAcademy; andWHEREAS, Joe Longway has greatly benefited the people ofTexas through his stalwart dedication to the highest standards ofthe law enforcement profession, and it is a pleasure to recognizehim as he concludes his remarkable tenure of public service; now,therefore, be itRESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th TexasLegislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate JosephC. Longway on his retirement as the Northwest Region chief of theTexas Department of Public Safety and extend to him sincere bestwishes for the future; and, be it furtherRESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution beprepared for Mr. Longway as an expression of high regard by theTexas House of Representatives.Tepper______________________________Speaker of the HouseI certify that H.R.
