H.R. No. 129
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the profound sense
of sorrow felt by the family and friends of Abby Lynn Pohl of
Austin, who was tragically lost in the July 4, 2025, flooding in
Kerr County; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of Kristin and Matthew Pohl, Abby Pohl
was born on December 20, 2016; she was baptized at the Episcopal
Church of the Good Shepherd and drew strength from her faith
throughout her life; the youngest member of her family, she shared a
deep bond with her older sisters, Hannah and Reese, and she also
benefited from the support of her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and
cousins; and
WHEREAS, Sweet and compassionate and possessing an engaging
sense of humor, Abby filled every room with energy and laughter; she
made friends easily and frequently hosted and attended sleepover
get-togethers; passionate about dance, she took part in recitals as
well as informal parties and performances with her sisters and
friends, and her love of music was further demonstrated through her
singing and the many hours she spent listening to Taylor Swift; and
WHEREAS, Abby competed in soccer, basketball, tennis, and
golf, and she honed her skills in the latter two sports through
weekend practice sessions with her father; she enjoyed spending
time outdoors, including during visits to the family ranch and
vacations in Crested Butte, Colorado; her other favorite activities
included playing with her dolls, reading, watching scary movies,
eating Crumbl cookies, and playing Rummikub; and
WHEREAS, Although her time on this earth was far too brief,
Abby Pohl was a ray of light in the lives of those who held her dear,
and they will never forget the joy, laughter, and love that she
shared with them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
of Abby Lynn Pohl and extend heartfelt condolences to the members of
her family: to her parents, Kristin and Matthew Pohl; to her
sisters, Hannah and Reese Pohl; to her grandparents, Leslie and
David Pohl and Stephanie and Phil Haag; to her aunts and uncles,
Tracy and Todd Engemoen, Julie and Luke Musselman, Luke Pohl, and
Memory and Jake Pohl; to her cousins, Lyla and Callie Engemoen,
Leslie, Perry, and Mia Musselman, George Pohl, and William and
Molly Pohl; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Abby Pohl.
