R. 6319 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES November 28, 2025 Mr. Gottheimer (for himself and Mr. Lawler ) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce A BILLTo direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish a Lung Cancer Task Force, and for other purposes.1.Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Benay Taub Lung Cancer Research Act .2.Lung Cancer Task Force(a)EstablishmentThe Secretary of Health and Human Services shall establish a task force, to be known as the Lung Cancer Task Force, within the National Institutes of Health.(b)MembershipThe members of the task force shall be appointed by the Secretary, and shall include—(1)at least one representative of the National Cancer Institute; and(2)at least one representative of the National Comprehensive Cancer Control Program of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.(c)DutiesThe task force shall examine—(1)disparities in lung cancer research, funding, and patient access to treatments as compared to other diseases, taking into account the number of people affected by lung cancer;(2)the level of Federal funding for lung cancer research in relation to the burden caused by the disease; and(3)lung cancer screenings in the United States.(d)Report to CongressNot later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall transmit to Congress a report containing the findings and recommendations of the task force, including recommendations for increasing the level of Federal funding for lung cancer research.
