Synopsis: Lane expansion of I-70. Requires the Indiana department of
transportation to take action necessary to construct one or more
additional lanes of traffic across Indiana for: (1) eastbound; and (2)
westbound; Interstate Highway 70 in areas of Interstate Highway 70
where there are four lanes of traffic. Makes an appropriation.
Effective: July 1, 2026.

                   HOUSE BILL No. 1083
    A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
 transportation and to make an appropriation.
     Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
1    SECTION 1. IC 8-23-2-21 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE
2 AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY
3 1, 2026]: Sec. 21. (a) The department shall take action necessary
4 under this article to construct one (1) or more additional lanes of
5 traffic across Indiana for:
6      (1) eastbound; and
7      (2) westbound;
8 Interstate Highway 70 in areas of Interstate Highway 70 where
9 there are four (4) lanes of traffic.
10    (b) There is continuously appropriated from the state general
11 fund to the department an amount sufficient to pay for
12 construction and other associated costs paid or incurred under this
13 section.
