Synopsis: Law enforcement officer training requirements. Provides
that, on or before July 1, 2027, the law enforcement training board shall
establish a program to allow a law enforcement officer who has
successfully completed the Tier II basic training requirement to
subsequently complete the additional Tier I basic training
requirements.
Effective: July 1, 2026.

HOUSE BILL No. 1410
A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning state
and local administration.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
1 SECTION 1. IC 5-2-1-9.5 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE
2 AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY
3 1, 2026]: Sec. 9.5. (a) On or before July 1, 2027, the board shall
4 establish a program to allow a law enforcement officer who has
5 successfully completed the Tier II basic training requirement to
6 subsequently complete the additional Tier I basic training
7 requirements.
8 (b) The Tier II law enforcement officer is responsible for the
9 cost of the additional training unless the cost is otherwise agreed to
10 be paid by a law enforcement agency.
