scr0005/comm-sub.txtFebruary 2, 2026SENATE CONCURRENTRESOLUTION No. 5DIGEST OF RESOLUTIONA CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana Departmentof Transportation to rename Bridge 256-039-00469, located on StateRoad 256 in Kent, Indiana, the "Greg Cloud Memorial Bridge".Maxwell(HOUSE SPONSORS — ZIMMERMAN, PATTERSON)January 8, 2026, read first time and referred to Committee on Homeland Security andTransportation.January 20, 2026, reported favorably — Do Pass.January 22, 2026, read second time, adopted by voice vote.HOUSE ACTIONJanuary 28, 2026, read first time and referred to Committee on Roads and Transportation.February 2, 2026, reported — Do Pass.SC 5—RC 1509/DI SMFebruary 2, 2026Second Regular Session 124th General Assembly (2026)SENATE CONCURRENTRESOLUTION No. 51 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana2 Department of Transportation to rename Bridge3 256-039-00469, located on State Road 256 in Kent, Indiana, the4 "Greg Cloud Memorial Bridge".5 Whereas, Gregory Allen "Greg" Cloud was born on June6 21, 1974, in Madison, Indiana, to Dennis Ray and Pamela Sue7 Watterson Cloud;8 Whereas, Greg graduated from Southwestern High School9 in Jefferson County in 1992 before attending Ivy Tech and10 Indiana University Southeast, where he obtained his waste11 water license;12 Whereas, Following graduation, Greg worked as a tow13 motor operator at the Wal-Mart distribution Center in Seymour14 before transitioning to Arkema in Carrolltown, Kentucky,15 where he served as power house operator, TRS, and waste16 management;17 Whereas, Greg served in the Indiana National Guard and18 was an avid fisherman, hunter, and member of the Madison19 Bass Masters Club;20 Whereas, Consistently focused on helping those in the21 community, Greg began serving as firefighter number 2308 for22 the Kent Volunteer Fire Company in 2003 was a member of23 Arkema Fire Brigade, and went to the Texas A&M fire school24 in the fall of 2005;SC 5—RC 1509/DI SM21 Whereas, In the early morning of Wednesday, November 1,2 2006, twelve fire departments, including the Kent Volunteer3 Fire Company, were called into action for a farmhouse fire4 near Kent, Indiana;5 Whereas, Just before 4:30 a.m., then-three-year veteran6 Greg and four other firefighters from Kent Volunteer Fire7 Company and the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department were8 sent into the home to help drive back flames;9 Whereas, After only four minutes in the home, the Hanover10 Fire Chief began pulling firefighters out due to the thickness of11 the smoke spreading through the home;12 Whereas, After retreating, the group realized that Greg was13 missing, and he was later found by a four-member rescue team14 on the second floor;15 Whereas, Greg gave the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of16 those in his community, leaving behind his wife, Melinda17 "Mindy" Sue Aulbach Cloud, his parents, his brother, and many18 others; and19 Whereas, In honor of his life of service and sacrifice, it is20 fitting to rename Bridge 256-039-00469, NBI#030880, located21 on State Road 256 in Kent, Indiana, the "Greg Cloud Memorial22 Bridge": Therefore,23 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly24 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives25concurring:26 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly urges the27 Indiana Department of Transportation to rename Bridge 256-28 039-00469, located on State Road 256 in Kent, Indiana, the29 "Greg Cloud Memorial Bridge".30 SECTION 2.
