RESOLUTION No. 5
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana
Department of Transportation to rename Bridge
256-039-00469, located on State Road 256 in Kent, Indiana, the
"Greg Cloud Memorial Bridge".
Whereas, Gregory Allen "Greg" Cloud was born on June
21, 1974, in Madison, Indiana, to Dennis Ray and Pamela Sue
Watterson Cloud;
Whereas, Greg graduated from Southwestern High School
in Jefferson County in 1992 before attending Ivy Tech and
Indiana University Southeast, where he obtained his waste
water license;
Whereas, Following graduation, Greg worked as a tow
motor operator at the Wal-Mart distribution Center in Seymour
before transitioning to Arkema in Carrolltown, Kentucky,
where he served as power house operator, TRS, and waste
management;
Whereas, Greg served in the Indiana National Guard and
was an avid fisherman, hunter, and member of the Madison
Bass Masters Club;
Whereas, Consistently focused on helping those in the
community, Greg began serving as firefighter number 2308 for
the Kent Volunteer Fire Company in 2003 was a member of
Arkema Fire Brigade, and went to the Texas A&M fire school
in the fall of 2005;

Whereas, In the early morning of Wednesday, November 1,
2006, twelve fire departments, including the Kent Volunteer
Fire Company, were called into action for a farmhouse fire
near Kent, Indiana;
Whereas, Just before 4:30 a.m., then-three-year veteran
Greg and four other firefighters from Kent Volunteer Fire
Company and the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department were
sent into the home to help drive back flames;
Whereas, After only four minutes in the home, the Hanover
Fire Chief began pulling firefighters out due to the thickness of
the smoke spreading through the home;
Whereas, After retreating, the group realized that Greg was
missing, and he was later found by a four-member rescue team
on the second floor;
Whereas, Greg gave the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of
those in his community, leaving behind his wife, Melinda
"Mindy" Sue Aulbach Cloud, his parents, his brother, and many
others; and
Whereas, In honor of his life of service and sacrifice, it is
fitting to rename Bridge 256-039-00469, NBI#030880, located
on State Road 256 in Kent, Indiana, the "Greg Cloud Memorial
Bridge": Therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
concurring:
SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly urges the
Indiana Department of Transportation to rename Bridge 256-
039-00469, located on State Road 256 in Kent, Indiana, the
"Greg Cloud Memorial Bridge".
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
to transmit copies of this Resolution to the Commissioner of the
Indiana Department of Transportation.

Mr. President: The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and
Transportation, to which was referred Senate Concurrent Resolution
No. 5, has had the same under consideration and begs leave to report
the same back to the Senate with the recommendation that said
