4Relating to public high schools; to amend Section
5 16-1-25, Code of Alabama 1975, to require public high schools
6 to designate a day for military recruiters to administer the
7 Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), on a
8 voluntary basis, to students on campus.
9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
10Section 1. Section 16-1-25 of the Code of Alabama 1975,
11 is amended to read as follows:
12"§16-1-25
13(a) All city and county public school systems and all
14 public institutions of higher education as defined by Section
15 16-5-1 and all divisions of public institutions of higher
16 education shall grant military recruiters of the United States
17 Armed Forces and United States Department of Homeland Security
18 the same information and access to students and campus
19 facilities as the institution grants to prospective employers
20 of students or to postsecondary institutions.
21(b) In addition to the access provided in subsection
22 (a), all city and county public high schools shall annually
23 designate one school day during the fall semester for military
24 recruiters to administer the Armed Services Vocational
25 Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) to students on campus. The high
26 school shall provide appropriate testing accommodations and
27 the ASVAB shall be voluntary for students."
28Section 2. This act shall become effective on October
