Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A house RESOLUTIONTO RECOGNIZE ANDHONOR THE COLUMBIA HIGH SCHOOL JAG PROGRAM AND ITS VITAL MISSION TO EQUIP ITSSTUDENTS FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS AND BEYOND.Whereas, since 2003, theColumbia High School Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) program has beentransforming students, many of whom face significant barriers to success, andhas been equipping them with the skills and support they need for future careersuccess; andWhereas, the JAGmission is to empower the nation's young people with skills and support tosucceed in education, employment, and life; andWhereas, by providingmentorship, job readiness training, and leadership development, Columbia HighSchool JAG and Columbia High School JAG Career Association have helped tocreate pathways to opportunity for Columbia's young people; andWhereas, Columbia High SchoolJAG and Columbia High School JAG Career Association have highlighted theimportance of workforce development at the high school level and havecelebrated the achievements of students in the program; andWhereas, the ColumbiaHigh School JAG and Columbia High School Career Association have helpedstudents to explore career pathways and to build community partnerships forthem to have meaningful interaction with businesses and with business partners;andWhereas, Columbia High SchoolJAG and Columbia High School Career Association offer students The JAGAdvantage which includes employer engagement for employers to interact with JAGstudents in the classroom and on the job; project-based learning foreducational specialists to deliver instruction through projects; and atrauma-informed, career-focused learning environment that equips students withthe essential soft skills needed to be college and career ready; andWhereas, Columbia High School JAGhas provided a significant increase in the number of students accepted intocollege and/or the military, as well as a measurable improvement in the CCR(College and Career Readiness) indicator on the school's report card; andWhereas, in the summer of 2025,students from Columbia High School JAG Program participated in an internshipwith the City of Columbia through a strong partnership with the mayor's office.These internships, along with exposure to real-life experiences, such as fieldstudies and professional networking events, provide students with invaluableinsights into their future career paths; andWhereas, the Columbia High SchoolJAG Program follows the graduating senior class for one year after graduationto ensure they succeed postgraduation; andWhereas, the House ofRepresentatives is grateful for the Columbia High School JAG Program which supportsstudents with real-world challenges. For many students, JAG is more than aclass; it is a life-changing support system that helps them overcome obstaclesso they can graduate and thrive.
