Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A house RESOLUTIONto recognize and honor the lattahigh school softball team, coaches, and school officials for an extraordinaryseason and to congratulate them for winning the 2025 south carolina class Astate championship title.Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to recognizethe outstanding achievement of the Latta High School softball team of DillonCounty, which captured the 2025 South Carolina Class A State Championship titleat the championship series; andWhereas, cheered on by an enthusiastic home crowd, the Latta LadyVikings secured a 5-2 victory over a strong and competitive Lewisville HighSchool team to claim the state championship; andWhereas, championship success is built upon exceptional pitching andtimely hitting, both of which were on full display as Latta, finishing theseason with a 23-5 record, earned the title with a decisive performance; andWhereas, Maddie Berry started in the circle for Latta and delivered adominant performance, recording nine strikeouts, while Paisley Jackson enteredin relief and added five strikeouts to silence Lewisville's offense; andWhereas, junior catcher Samantha Townsend provided leadership andenergy throughout the contest, going two-for-three at the plate with twosingles, one run batted in, one run scored, a stolen base, and drawing ahit-by-pitch, serving as a catalyst for the Lady Vikings' offensive momentum;andWhereas, after Latta briefly relinquished a 1-2 lead in the fourthinning, the Lady Vikings responded with determination as Sarah Bryant drew awalk and stole second base, Madison Kersey reached base and stole, and RylanHunt executed a key sacrifice bunt to set the stage for a timely RBI single byTownsend; andWhereas, those efforts propelled Latta to a 3-2 lead entering thefifth inning, and with two additional runs scored in the sixth inning, the LadyVikings secured a 5-2 victory, as Jackson closed out the game with poise andprecision; andWhereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives commendthe Latta High School softball team for the pride, sportsmanship, andrecognition that they have brought to their school and community and lookforward to their continued success.
