Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A house RESOLUTIONTO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE Irmo Little Leaguebaseball TEAM, COACHES, AND Players' families FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY SEASON ANDTO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR placing third nationally in the 2025 Little LeagueWorld Series.Whereas, the SouthCarolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the Irmo LittleLeague team was one of nine teams nationally invited to participate in theLittle League World Series, representing the Southeast region, held in Williamsport,Pennsylvania, from August 13, 2025, through August 24, 2025; andWhereas, the LittleLeague is a nonprofit organization run entirely on the local and districtlevels by dedicated volunteers. In Irmo four teams participate: Little Leaguefor ten, eleven, or twelve year olds; Intermediate League for eleven, twelve, orthirteen year olds; Junior League for twelve, thirteen, or fourteen year olds;and Senior League for twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, or sixteen year olds;andWhereas, the IrmoIntermediate League Baseball team had no district tournament, but the team wonthe state and region tournaments to advance to the Intermediate Baseball WorldSeries in Livermore, California. The Irmo Senior League Baseball also had no districttournament, but that team won the state and regional tournaments to advance tothe Senior League Baseball World Series in Easley. The Irmo Junior LeagueSoftball team won the district tournament, but had no state tournament, and theteam won regional to advance to the Junior League Softball World Series inKirkland, Washington; andWhereas, the Irmo LittleLeague team went undefeated in the district tournament in three games, nevergiving up a run. In the state tournament on Johns Island, Irmo won all fourgames, giving up only three runs in those games. In the regional tournament inWarner Robins, Georgia, Irmo competed against seven other state winners. Irmolost its first game against Florida, putting the team in the losers' bracket.Irmo fought back to win the final game against Florida 5-4 to advance to theWorld Series; andWhereas, Irmo LittleLeague went 3-2 in the tournament ending as the third team in the UnitedStates, going further than any other South Carolina team in the World Series.The team started the tournament with a 13-0 win against a team from NewEngland. In the next game, Irmo and Nevada stood at 0-0 at the end ofregulation play, but Nevada managed to get one run to take the game 1-0 in theextra inning which put Irmo in the losers' bracket. Irmo battled back againstSouth Dakota, but that game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation. In the topof the extra inning, Irmo gave up five runs, making the score 1-6, but Irmowalked off with six runs to take the game 7-6. Against Hawaii's team, Irmo won3-0. Irmo lost its final game to Nevada 3-5; andWhereas, the members ofthe Irmo Little League team included Ethan Bennett, Andrew Bogan, BraydenGerard, Jacob Gibson, Joe Giulietti, Sutton Gravelle, Jake McQuilkin, BrodyMiller, Palmer Steele, Ryder Tilitz, Preston Ware, and Brady Westbrooks; andWhereas, these winningteams enjoyed twenty-three appearances on ESPN during their games in the WorldSeries, showcasing the Town of Irmo before millions of Americans. The players willbe honored by the Town of Irmo with a special event on September 3, 2025, andthe four Irmo teams were honored by Governor Henry McMaster at the Governor'sMansion on September 10, 2025, for a special celebration; andWhereas, Manager DaveBogan and Coaches Mike Beckworth and Pat Gravelle capitalized on their athleticability and experience to forge a championship-caliber team and teach these youngathletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off thediamond; andWhereas, the SouthCarolina House of Representatives values the pride and recognition that theIrmo baseball and softball players have brought to their community, and themembers look forward to following their continued achievements in the daysahead.
