Under the power of the referendum, as vested inthe Legislature, the following measure, relating to the classification ofstudents for tuition purposes, is enacted to become valid as a law if approvedby the voters and on proclamation of the Governor:AN ACTamending title 15, chapter 14, article 1,Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-1803.01; relating to theclassification of students for tuition purposes.Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:Section 1. Title 15, chapter 14, article 1,Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-1803.01, to read:START_STATUTE15-1803.01. Tuition rates; citizens; definitionA. Notwithstanding any other law, auniversity under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents or acommunity college as defined in section 15-1401 may not charge anyindividual who is a citizen of the United States a tuition rate that is greaterthan the tuition rate that the university or community college charges anystudent who is not a citizen of the United States.B. For the purposes of thissection, "tuition" means tuition and mandatory fees charged by auniversity under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents or a communitycollege as defined in section 15-1401. END_STATUTE2. The Secretary of Stateshall submit this proposition to the voters at the next general election asprovided by article IV, part 1, section 1, Constitution of Arizona.
