2  DECLARING JANUARY 22, 2026 "NEW MEXICO MESA DAY" IN THE HOUSE
3  OF REPRESENTATIVES.

5WHEREAS, New Mexico MESA, incorporated, is a nonprofit
6  organization and a mathematics, engineering and science
7  achievement program; and
8WHEREAS, New Mexico MESA, in partnership with schools
9  and universities, promotes educational enrichment for
10 pre-college students from culturally diverse communities; and
11      WHEREAS, currently, New Mexico MESA is in almost one
12 hundred ten schools statewide and has grown dramatically
13 since its introduction in six schools in 1982; and
14      WHEREAS, New Mexico MESA provides thousands of middle,
15 junior high and high school students with year-round support
16 and career guidance; and
17      WHEREAS, New Mexico MESA activities include tutoring,
18 advanced study, college and career counseling, field trips
19 and academic competitions, leadership workshops, summer
20 programs, scholarship incentives, community service
21 opportunities and teacher professional development; and
22      WHEREAS, New Mexico MESA provides support not only to
23 students but also to their teachers, families and
24 communities; and
25      WHEREAS, through the efforts of New Mexico MESA,  HM 5

1  participating students receive the educational enrichment
2  experiences and practical help that they need to achieve
3  academic excellence and prepare for college majors in
4  mathematics, engineering and science;
5NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
6  REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that January 22,
7  2026 be declared "New Mexico MESA Day" in the house of
8  representatives; and
9BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that New Mexico MESA,
10 incorporated, be recognized and applauded for its dedication
11 to preparing minority students for careers in mathematics,
12 engineering and science; and
13      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be
14 transmitted to New Mexico MESA, incorporated.  HM 5
