1 AN ACT concerning motor vehicles; providing cities the authority to allow
2   the driving of golf carts upon sidewalks; amending K.S.A. 8-1575 and
3   repealing the existing section.

5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
6     Section 1. K.S.A. 8-1575 is hereby amended to read as follows: 8-
7 1575. (a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b), no person shall
8 drive any vehicle upon a sidewalk or sidewalk area except upon a
9 permanent or duly authorized temporary driveway.
10     (b) The governing body of any city is hereby authorized, by ordinance
11 duly passed, to allow for the driving of a golf cart upon a sidewalk, as
12 defined in K.S.A. 8-1495, and amendments thereto, if the driver of the golf
13 cart is a person 16 years of age or older and holds a valid class C driver's
14 license.
15     Sec. 2. K.S.A. 8-1575 is hereby repealed.
16     Sec. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
17 publication in the statute book.
