scr1019/introduced.txtREFERENCE TITLE: ratification; equal rights amendmentState of ArizonaSenateFifty-seventh LegislatureSecond Regular Session2026SCR 1019Introduced bySenatorsKuby: Alston, Bravo, Diaz, Epstein, Gabald�n, Gonzales, Hatathlie, Miranda,Ortiz, Sears, Sundareshan;� Representatives Contreras P, Garcia, Gutierrez,M�rquez, Sandoval, Stahl HamiltonACONCURRENT RESOLUTIONratifying the proposed amendment to theConstitution of the United States; providing equal rights for men and women.(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE)Whereas, the Congress ofthe United States, on March 22, 1972, in both houses, by a constitutionalmajority of two-thirds in both houses, adopted the following proposition toamend the Constitution of the United States in the following words, to wit:HOUSE JOINTRESOLUTION 208Proposing an amendment tothe Constitution of the United States relative to equal rights for men andwomen.Resolved by the Senateand House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congressassembled (two-thirds of each House concurring therein), That the followingarticle is proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States,which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitutionwhen ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several Stateswithin seven years from the date of its submission by the Congress:ARTICLE ��Section 1. Equalityof rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States orby any State on account of sex.Section 2. TheCongress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, theprovisions of this article.Section 3. Thisamendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.ThereforeBe it resolved by the Legislatureof the State of Arizona:1. That this proposedamendment to the Constitution of the United States is ratified.2. That the Secretary ofState of the State of Arizona transmit a copy of this Resolution to thePresident of the United States Senate and the Speaker of the United StatesHouse of Representatives.
