Subject: Highways; electric vehicle supply equipment; standards of service
Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to require that
all publicly available electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) shall (1)
accept multiple forms of payment, including credit cards; (2) display
prominently an explanation of all fees and charges that may be incurred for use
of the EVSE, including charges for parking or remaining at the EVSE after the
vehicle has completed charging; (3) make its real-time status available to the
public, including whether the EVSE is available, in use, or out of service; and
(4) comply with any other requirements that the Secretary of Transportation
determines, by rule, are necessary to provide reliable service to drivers of
battery electric vehicles.
