NO.3262THIRTY-THIRD LEGISLATURE, 2026S.D. 1STATE OF HAWAIIH.D. 1C.D. 1A BILL FOR AN ACTRELATING TO EDUCATION.BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:���� SECTION 1.� Section 302A-801, Hawaii Revised Statutes, isamended by amending subsection (f) to read as follows:���� "(f)� The board may employ an executive directorfor a term of up to four years, who shall be appointed by the board of education,with the advice and consent of the senate, and without regard to chapters76 and 89; provided that the board of education shall appoint the executivedirector from a list of three nominees submitted by the board [[shallsubmit a nominee]] to the board of education [[for approval or disapproval]];provided further that if the senate fails to confirm the nominee [[isdisapproved]], the board of education shall submit another nominee tothe [[board of education]] senate for [[approval or disapproval.]]advice and consent.���� Theboard may terminate the executive director's contract for cause; provided thatthe board shall submit the recommendation for termination to the board ofeducation for approval or disapproval."���� SECTION2.� Statutory material to be repealed isbracketed and stricken.� New statutorymaterial is underscored.���� SECTION3.� This Act shall take effect upon itsapproval.Report Title:HTSB;BOE; Executive Director; Appointment; Advice and ConsentDescription:Requiresthat the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board submit three nominees for its ExecutiveDirector to the Board of Education.�Requires the Board of Education to appoint an Executive Director fromthe nominees on the list, subject to advice and consent of the Senate.� (CD1)The summary descriptionof legislation appearing on this page is for informational purposes only and isnot legislation or evidence of legislative intent.
