Enrolled, An Act,
RECOGNIZING THE DALE COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM FOR EARNING A 95
OVERALL SCORE ON THE STATE AND FEDERAL ANNUAL REPORT CARDS.
WHEREAS, it is fitting that we pay tribute to those
educational institutions that, through the natural talents
and unflagging commitment to academic excellence evidenced
by their administration, faculty, staff, and students, have
achieved state and federal recognition for excellence; and
WHEREAS, one such high-achieving educational system
is the Dale County School System, which earned a 95 overall
score on the Alabama State and Federal Report Cards, the
highest ever earned by a county school system in the history
of Alabama; the State and Federal Report Cards are the
measurement of the academic achievement and culture of
public school systems across the state and nation; and
WHEREAS, the dedication to academic excellence
demonstrated by all of the fine individuals affiliated with
the Dale County School System, including 3,200 students and
418 employees, is clearly deserving of our respect,
admiration, and commendation; and
WHEREAS, the individual schools that have contributed
to the success of public education in the communities across
Dale County and that are commended for their outstanding
achievement are Ariton School, Bridge Academy, Dale County
High School, G.W. Long Elementary School, G.W. Long High
School, Midland City Elementary School, Newton Elementary

School, and South Dale Middle School; and
WHEREAS, Superintendent Ben Baker, who has served in
the Dale County School System for 30 years, has led the
school system to success by recognizing the importance of
creating an environment that encourages academic achievement
and by fostering strong partnerships with local business,
industry, and local churches; such community involvement has
helped reinforce a positive climate and culture where
students are motivated to attend, learn, and succeed,
supported by high-quality teachers and dedicated support
staff; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That we congratulate the Dale
County School System on receiving a 95 overall score on the
Alabama State and Federal Report Cards, and we extend to its
students, employees, and leadership our best wishes for
continued future success.
