SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
210 ILCS 125/33 new
Amends the Swimming Facility Act. Provides that a public swimming facility may allow dogs to enter and use a swimming pool if the specified conditions are met.

1 AN ACT concerning regulation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Swimming Facility Act is amended by adding
5 Section 33 as follows:
6 (210 ILCS 125/33 new)
7 Sec. 33. Dogs in swimming facilities. A public swimming
8 facility may allow dogs to enter and use a swimming pool if all
9 of the following conditions are met:
10 (1) The swimming facility is closed to all human use
11 during the period of canine access, except for use by a
12 permitted dog's owner or handler and employees of the
13 swimming facility.
14 (2) Canine access occurs outside of normal operating
15 hours and is not concurrent with any human swimming
16 activities, except for swimming activities involving a dog
17 and its owner or handler.
18 (3) The swimming pool is completely drained no later
19 than 24 hours following canine use.
20 (4) Prior to refilling and reopening the swimming pool
21 for human use, the swimming pool is cleaned, sanitized,
22 and inspected in accordance with rules adopted by the
23 Department of Public Health.

1 (5) Each dog permitted to use the swimming pool is
2 accompanied and controlled by an owner or handler at all
3 times and is vaccinated in accordance with State and local
4 requirements.
5 (6) The operator of the swimming facility provides
6 clear public notice of the dates and times during which
7 canine access is permitted.

Amends the Swimming Facility Act. Provides that a public swimming facility may allow dogs to enter and use a swimming pool if the specified conditions are met.
