1A MEMORIAL
2  RECOGNIZING VICTIMS OF VIOLENT CRIME AND THEIR FAMILIES AND
3  HONORING THEIR LOSSES.

5WHEREAS, lives lost to senseless acts of violence
6  deserve to be honored and remembered; and
7WHEREAS, each life lost represents a story, a family and
8  a dream left unfulfilled; and
9WHEREAS, victims of violent crime would like to educate
10 the public and policymakers about the impact of murder and
11 other violent crime on families and communities; and
12      WHEREAS, the diverse contributions of the survivors'
13 movement should be recognized; and
14      WHEREAS, New Mexico stands in solidarity with the
15 families and loved ones who carry the weight of unimaginable
16 loss and whose strength in the face of grief is a testament
17 to the enduring power of love and remembrance;
18      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
19 REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that victims of
20 violent crime be recognized, honored and remembered by
21 ensuring that their lives will never be forgotten and their
22 legacies will inspire change and by fostering communities of
23 peace, support and justice; and
24      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be
25 transmitted to the chair of the crime victims reparation        HM 25
