hb71/chaptered.txtENROLLED2026 Regular SessionACT No. 613HOUSE BILL NO. 71BY REPRESENTATIVE CARLSON1AN ACT2 To amend and reenact R.S. 9:2793.12(B) and to enact R.S. 9:2793.12(A)(3), relative to3liability of persons authorized to carry a concealed handgun; to provide that armed4security officers are authorized persons; and to provide for related matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6Section 1. R.S. 9:2793.12(B) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S.7 9:2793.12(A)(3) is hereby enacted to read as follows:8§2793.12. Limitation of liability; concealed handgun permit; definitions; exceptions9A.10* * *11(3) The term "authorized person" shall also apply to any armed security12officer as defined by R.S. 37:3272(A)(2) who has completed the training13requirements provided by R.S. 37:3284(B)(2) and who has been issued an armed14registration card by the Louisiana State Board of Private Security Examiners.15B. An authorized person as defined in this Section shall not be liable for16damages for any injury, death, or loss suffered by a perpetrator when the injury,17death, or loss is caused by a justified use of force or self-defense through the18discharge of a firearm by the authorized person.
