         SENATE RESOLUTION ____
     MR. PRESIDENT:
     I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1     A SENATE RESOLUTION memorializing Nancy Nugent.
2     Whereas, Nancy Whiteford Nugent of Lawrenceburg,
3 Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026,
4 surrounded by her loving family;
5     Whereas, Nancy was born on July 30, 1941, in Aurora,
6 Indiana, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Liucthe)
7 Whiteford, where she grew up and attended Aurora High
8 School;
9     Whereas, In 1960, Nancy married Johnny Nugent, who
10 went on to be a State Senator in Senate District 43 for over 35
11 years and whose service included time as Majority Floor
12 Leader and chair of the Senate Agriculture and Small Business
13 Committee, and together they embraced life to the fullest, co-
14 owning Nugent Tractor Sales;
15     Whereas, Photography and staying active were Nancy's
16 passions, and she cherished her animals and time with family
17 and friends;
18     Whereas, Nancy is survived by her loving husband, former

1 State Senator Johnny Nugent, her daughter, Suzi (Kevin)
2 Randall Anderson, two grandsons, five great-grandchildren,
3 her brother, Mike Whiteford, and several nieces and nephews;
4 and
5    Whereas, As a member of the extended Senate family,
6 Nancy Nugent will be greatly missed by friends, family, and all
7 who were fortunate to know her: Therefore,
8Be it resolved by the Senate of the
9General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
10      SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate memorializes Nancy
11 Whiteford Nugent.
12      SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
13 to transmit copies of this Resolution to former Senator Johnny
14 Nugent.
