4Relating to the Governor's Mansion Authority; to amend
5 Section 41-9-548, Code of Alabama 1975, to provide that
6 Governor's Mansion Authority employees are in the unclassified
7 service of the Merit System Act.
8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
9Section 1. This act shall be known as the Sarah
10 Caldwell Crosby Act.
11Section 2. Section 41-9-548, Code of Alabama 1975, is
12 amended as follows:
13"§41-9-548
14(a)(1) All full-time employees of the authority shall
15 be treated as state employees for the purposes of
16 participating in any insurance programs provided for the state
17 employees.
18(b)(2) The authority shall pay the employer's
19 contributions to any insurance programs out of funds
20 appropriated to it or otherwise available to it for any
21 purpose whatsoever. The authority may deduct the employees'
22 contributions for such programs by means of payroll deductions
23 or otherwise from the compensation paid to the employees.
24(b)(1) All employees of the authority shall be members
25 of the unclassified service for purposes of Section 36-26-10.
26(2) Any employee of the authority employed as of the
27 effective date of the act adding this subsection shall be
28 entitled to payment for his or her accumulated leave upon

29 separation from service, and any employee hired after the
30 effective date shall be entitled to such payment only to the
31 extent generally provided to unclassified employees in the
32 Merit System, consistent with generally applicable
33 administrative rules adopted by the State Personnel
34 Department."
35Section 3. This act shall become effective immediately.
