sf2209/introduced.txtSenateFile2209-IntroducedSENATEFILE2209BYBOUSSELOTABILLFORAnActrelatingtothepaymentofperdiemtomembersofthe1generalassembly.2BEITENACTEDBYTHEGENERALASSEMBLYOFTHESTATEOFIOWA:3TLSB6569XS(1)91ss/nsS.F.2209Section1.Section2.10,subsection1,Code2026,isamended1toreadasfollows:21.Everymemberofthegeneralassemblyexceptthepresiding3officerofthesenate,thespeakerofthehouse,themajority4andminorityfloorleaderofeachhouse,andthepresident5protemporeofthesenateandspeakerprotemporeofthe6houseshallreceiveanannualsalaryoftwenty-fivethousand7dollarsfortheyear2007andsubsequentyearswhileserving8asamemberofthegeneralassembly.Inaddition,eachsuch9membershallreceiveaperdiem,asdefinedinsubsection105,forexpensesofoffice,excepttravel,foreachdaythe11generalassemblyisinsessioncommencingwiththefirstday12ofalegislativesessionandendingwiththedayoffinal13adjournmentofeachlegislativesessionasindicatedbythe14journalsofthehouseandsenate,exceptthatifthelengthof15thefirstregularsessionofthegeneralassemblyexceedsone16hundredtenfifty-fivecalendardaysandthesecondregular17sessionexceedsonehundredfiftycalendardays,thepayments18shallbemadeonlyforonehundredtenfifty-fivecalendar19daysforthefirstsessionandonehundredfiftycalendar20daysforthesecondsession.MembersfromPolkcountyshall21receiveanamountperdayequaltothree-fourthsoftheper22diemofthenon-Polkcountymembers.Eachmembershallreceive23athreehundreddollarpermonthallowanceforlegislative24districtconstituencypostage,travel,telephonecosts,and25otherexpenses.Travelexpensesshallbepaidattherate26establishedbysection8A.363foractualtravelingoingtoand27returningfromtheseatofgovernmentbythenearesttraveled28routefornotmorethanonetimeperweekduringalegislative29sessionunlessthegeneralassemblyotherwiseprovides.30EXPLANATION31Theinclusionofthisexplanationdoesnotconstituteagreementwith32theexplanation’ssubstancebythemembersofthegeneralassembly.33Thisbillchangesthelengthoftimeduringwhichmembersof34thegeneralassemblyreceiveaperdiempaymentfromthefirst35-1-LSB6569XS(1)91ss/ns1/2S.F.2209110calendardaysofthefirstregularsessionandthefirst1100calendardaysofthesecondregularsessiontothefirst255calendardaysofthefirstregularsessionandthefirst503calendardaysofthesecondregularsession.4-2-LSB6569XS(1)91ss/ns2/2
