the death of Sheila Mattox.

Sheila Jean Mattox, affectionately known as Ginger, passed away
on January 17, 2026.
Ginger was born on July 25, 1947 in Ottawa, Illinois to William
"Bill" Mattox and Shirley Kirk Gauwitz.� Ginger's roots ran deep
through the soil of history, as she was the proud granddaughter of racing
legend Shorty Cantlon.� She lived a life rich with love and purpose.
Ginger's professional life was characterized by her tenacity
and charm as she climbed the ranks to become a regional account manager at
General Electric.� Her retirement days were anything but idle, as she poured
her heart and soul into her beloved Phoenix historic district, known as FQ
Story, where she earned the nickname "The Fixer."
Ginger tackled the most complex issues with a smile, an
unyielding optimism and a conviction that there was no challenge too great to
overcome.� She was a master researcher and negotiator who tackled the thorniest
issue and strive for win-win solutions.
For Ginger, there was no problem that she thought could not be
solved and no person in need whom she met that she did not try to help.� Using
her skills developed in the business world, combined with her passion, she
helped resolve community issues such as the FAA flight path changes.
Ginger's spiritual nature was the compass that guided her
through life's adventures.� Her passions were as diverse as her talents,
including music, gardening, cooking, motorcycle riding and a deep appreciation
for nature.
Ginger lived life full of zeal and purpose.� She never met a
stranger she couldn't help or a problem she wouldn't face head-on.� She
inspired all those around her, and her story is a testament to the power of one
and the heart that she embodied every day in her tireless service to her
community.
Therefore
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
Arizona, the Senate concurring:
That the Members of the Legislature express sincere regret at
the passing of Sheila "Ginger" Mattox and extend their deepest
sympathies to her family and many friends.
