1A HOUSE RESOLUTION memorializing Robert Hall
2    Weir.
3Whereas, Robert Hall Weir, known professionally as Bob
4    Weir, was a founding member, guitarist, and vocalist of the
5    Grateful Dead, one of the most influential and enduring bands
6    in American music;
7Whereas, For more than six decades, Bob Weir shaped the
8    sound of American music through his distinctive rhythm guitar
9    style, innovative songwriting, and unwavering commitment to
10    live performance;
11Whereas, His work drew deeply from the traditions that
12    define Americana, including blues, jazz, folk, country, and rock,
13    then blended them into a uniquely American sound that
14    influenced generations of musicians and helped shape modern

1    music culture;
2Whereas, Through his performances with the Grateful Dead,
3    RatDog, Furthur, Dead & Company, and numerous
4    collaborations, Bob Weir helped create one of the most
5    enduring music communities in American music;
6Whereas, Bob Weir and the Grateful Dead shared a long and
7    meaningful relationship with Indiana audiences, especially
8    through their performances at the venue remembered by
9    generations of Hoosiers simply as "Deer Creek";
10Whereas, His music fostered a sense of community,
11    connection, and joy that reached people of all ages and
12    backgrounds, leaving a cultural legacy that continues to
13    resonate deeply with Hoosiers; and
14      Whereas, Bob Weir will be greatly missed for his lifelong
15    dedication to artistic exploration, environmental stewardship,
16    and philanthropy, which was reflected in values that enrich
17    public life and strengthen the fabric of communities across the
18    country: Therefore,
19Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
20General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
21SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
22    honors and memorializes the life, legacy, and cultural
23    contributions of Bob Weir and extends its condolences to his
24    family, friends, and the many fans whose lives were touched by
25    his music.
26SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
27    Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to the
28    family of Bob Weir.
