A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION honoring Ashlyn Koupal of Wagner for being
        named to the 2026 McDonald's All-American Girls Basketball Team.
    WHEREAS, Ashlyn Koupal, a senior at Wagner High School, has achieved national
recognition by being selected to the prestigious McDonald's All-American Girls Basketball
Team, one of the highest honors in high school basketball, recognizing the top players in the
nation who demonstrate exceptional skill, leadership, and sportsmanship; and
    WHEREAS, Ashlyn Koupal becomes only the second South Dakotan ever selected to
participate in the McDonald's All-American Game and the first female athlete from South
Dakota to earn this distinction, which marks a historic achievement both for her community
and the state; and
    WHEREAS, throughout her career at Wagner High School, Ashlyn has demonstrated
outstanding athletic achievement, dedication, perseverance, and leadership in addition to
serving as a role model to her teammates and young athletes across South Dakota; and
    WHEREAS, Ashlyn Koupal has committed to the University of Nebraska to continue her
academic and athletic careers, where she will play for Head Coach Amy Williams, of South
Dakota, and both Ashlyn and Coach Williams will demonstrate at the collegiate level the values
and work ethic of this state; and
    WHEREAS, Ashlyn's accomplishment brings great pride to the Wagner community and to
the entire State of South Dakota;
   NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the One Hundred First Legislature of the
State of South Dakota, that Ashlyn Koupal is recognized for her outstanding achievement in
being named to the 2026 McDonald's All-American Girls Basketball Team.
