4 HR____ RECOGNIZING MARY ANN JONES FOR HER ACCOMPLISHMENTS ON
5 THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT.

7WHEREAS, it is with profound appreciation and deepest
8 admiration that we recognize Mary Ann Jones for more than
9 two decades of distinguished public service and steadfast
10 commitment to the residents of Lamar County, primarily as
11 Circuit Clerk; we also take this opportunity to heartily
12 congratulate her upon her retirement, effective February
13 16,2026; and
14WHEREAS, Mary Ann was first hired as a Court
15 Specialist in the Lamar County Circuit Clerk's Office on
16 February 14, 2000; in August 2004, Mary Ann was elected
17 Mayor of Vernon, Alabama, a role she served until she was
18 appointed Lamar County Circuit Clerk in August 2006; she
19 began her first elected term as Circuit Clerk in January
20 2007; and
21WHEREAS, Mary Ann has now served as Lamar County
22 Circuit Clerk for 19 years and has spent 26 years as a
23 dedicated public servant; her duties as Circuit Clerk have
24 effectively made her the official record keeper and business
25 manager of all court proceedings held in Lamar County's
26 District and Circuit Courts; her primary responsibilities
27 are to maintain court records and manage the collection and
28 disbursement of funds for the court system, which she has

29 done with utmost integrity and security; and
30WHEREAS, a typical day in the Circuit Clerk's office
31 may involve interacting with the public while managing court
32 pleadings, collecting fines and fees, preparing subpoenas,
33 and issuing court notices for scheduled trials and hearings;
34 jury management also falls under the duties of the Circuit
35 Clerk; yet, somehow, in addition to her work as Circuit
36 Clerk, Mary Ann has juggled her time to serve on a variety
37 of committees within the Alabama Circuit Clerks
38 Associations; and
39WHEREAS, Mary Ann is eagerly looking forward to
40 retirement, as she plans to spend more time with her family,
41 most notably her four loving grandchildren; now therefore,
42BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
43 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we hereby most highly commend
44 Mary Ann Jones for faithful devotion to her community as a
45 Lamar County public servant of impeccable character and
46 service, and we extend to her our heartfelt gratitude and
47 sincere best wishes for continued health, happiness, and
48 fulfillment in her future endeavors.
