hr105/introduced.txtHR105 INTRODUCED1 HR1052 ZQ1N8WW-13 By Representative Estes4 RFD:5 First Read: 10-Feb-26Page 0ZQ1N8WW-1 02/05/2026 AR (L)AR 2026-7401234 HR____ RECOGNIZING MARY ANN JONES FOR HER ACCOMPLISHMENTS ON5 THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT.67WHEREAS, it is with profound appreciation and deepest8 admiration that we recognize Mary Ann Jones for more than9 two decades of distinguished public service and steadfast10 commitment to the residents of Lamar County, primarily as11 Circuit Clerk; we also take this opportunity to heartily12 congratulate her upon her retirement, effective February13 16,2026; and14WHEREAS, Mary Ann was first hired as a Court15 Specialist in the Lamar County Circuit Clerk's Office on16 February 14, 2000; in August 2004, Mary Ann was elected17 Mayor of Vernon, Alabama, a role she served until she was18 appointed Lamar County Circuit Clerk in August 2006; she19 began her first elected term as Circuit Clerk in January20 2007; and21WHEREAS, Mary Ann has now served as Lamar County22 Circuit Clerk for 19 years and has spent 26 years as a23 dedicated public servant; her duties as Circuit Clerk have24 effectively made her the official record keeper and business25 manager of all court proceedings held in Lamar County's26 District and Circuit Courts; her primary responsibilities27 are to maintain court records and manage the collection and28 disbursement of funds for the court system, which she hasPage 1HR105 INTRODUCED29 done with utmost integrity and security; and30WHEREAS, a typical day in the Circuit Clerk's office31 may involve interacting with the public while managing court32 pleadings, collecting fines and fees, preparing subpoenas,33 and issuing court notices for scheduled trials and hearings;34 jury management also falls under the duties of the Circuit35 Clerk; yet, somehow, in addition to her work as Circuit36 Clerk, Mary Ann has juggled her time to serve on a variety37 of committees within the Alabama Circuit Clerks38 Associations; and39WHEREAS, Mary Ann is eagerly looking forward to40 retirement, as she plans to spend more time with her family,41 most notably her four loving grandchildren; now therefore,42BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE43 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we hereby most highly commend44 Mary Ann Jones for faithful devotion to her community as a45 Lamar County public servant of impeccable character and46 service, and we extend to her our heartfelt gratitude and47 sincere best wishes for continued health, happiness, and48 fulfillment in her future endeavors.Page 2
