A house RESOLUTION
TO
RECOGNIZE AND HONOR EDUCATOR KELLI OVERCASH OF KERSHAW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN
LANCASTER COUNTY, TO CONGRATULATE HER UPON BEING NAMED THE 2026 SOUTH CAROLINA
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR, AND TO COMMEND HER FOR HER DEDICATED
SERVICE TO EDUCATION IN THIS GREAT STATE.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives
were pleased to learn that Kelli Overcash, principal of Kershaw Elementary
School in Lancaster County, has been named the 2026 South Carolina Elementary
School Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School
Administrators; and
Whereas, every year, three remarkable South Carolina principals are
selected for South Carolina Principal of the Year awards, one each at the
elementary, middle, and high school levels. Mrs. Overcash was chosen for this
honor from an outstanding field of accomplished administrative candidates by a
panel of expert judges; and
Whereas, Mrs. Overcash, an inspiring leader, has served Kershaw
Elementary School for nearly a decade, leading with a people-first approach in
her role as principal by championing teachers and staff, empowering every
child, and ensuring that all students are seen, heard, and challenged to reach
their full potential regardless of circumstance; and
Whereas, during her tenure, Mrs. Overcash has achieved significant
accomplishments for Kershaw Elementary School, including improved staff
retention and the school earning three consecutive years of "Excellent" ratings
from the South Carolina State Department of Education, reflecting her steadfast
commitment to student academic growth and meaningful community engagement; and
Whereas, this well-deserved honor marks a first for Lancaster County
Schools, reflecting the district's continued commitment to excellence in
education and school leadership, and its dedication to the overall growth and
success of all students; and
Whereas, Mrs. Overcash, a steadfast advocate for equity and
opportunity, is not only an exceptional educator but also a respected leader
within the community, having been named the inaugural recipient of the 2025
Lancaster County School District Principal of the Year award for her
outstanding leadership, vision, and compassion, with academic achievement
improving significantly under her guidance; and
Whereas, for her devoted service to the students at Kershaw
Elementary School, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives
are pleased to applaud Mrs. Overcash on her selection as the 2026 South
Carolina Elementary School Principal of the Year, and congratulate her on the
pride and recognition that she has brought to her school and community. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of
Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House
of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor educator
Kelli Overcash of Kershaw Elementary School in Lancaster County, congratulate
her upon being named the 2026 South Carolina Elementary School Principal of the
Year, and commend her for her dedicated service to education in this great
State.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
Kelli Overcash.
