W.S. 21-9-105 is created to read:151 HB01862026 STATE OF WYOMING 26LSO-0460121-9-105. Instruction in human growth and development2 required; duties of department of education; exceptions.34(a) Each school district shall provide instruction5 for all students in grades five (5) through (12) in human6 growth and development. The instruction required under this7 section shall include, at a minimum:89(i) A video of an ultrasound, conducted in10 high-definition, that shows the early fetal development of11 organs;1213(ii) A video that demonstrates fertilization and14 the stages of human development from conception until15 birth.1617(b) The state department of education shall determine18 and publish on its website a list of materials suitable to19 satisfy the educational requirements specified in this20 section. The department shall make materials available to21 parents upon request.222 HB01862026 STATE OF WYOMING 26LSO-04601(c) Each school district shall establish a process by2 which the parents or guardian of a student may have the3 student excused from the educational requirements specified4 in this section upon written request by the parents or5 guardian.67(d) The state department of education shall, by rule,8 establish a process by which the department shall conduct9 annual audits of school districts to ensure that school10 districts are complying with the educational requirements11 specified in this section.1213(e) No school district or the state department of14 education shall adopt or establish any instructional15 material or model curricula that conflict with the16 instruction required under this section.1718Section 2. W.S. 21-9-101(b)(i) by creating a new19 subparagraph (P) is amended to read:202121-9-101. Educational programs for schools;22 standards; core of knowledge and skills; special needs23 programs; class size requirements; cocurricular activities.3 HB01862026 STATE OF WYOMING 26LSO-046012(b) Each school district within the state shall3 provide educational programs sufficient to meet uniform4 student content and performance standards at the level5 established by the state board of education in the6 following areas of knowledge and skills:78(i) Common core of knowledge:910(P) Human development education, in11 accordance with W.S. 21-9-105.1213Section 3. This act shall apply beginning with the14 2026-2027 school year.1516Section 4.
