Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A house RESOLUTIONto declare the week of October 5-11, 2026, as"Classic Literature Week" in South Carolina in order to encourage educators,students, libraries, and community organizations to celebrate classicliterature through various activities, events, and discussions that highlightthe importance and relevance of these literary treasures.Whereas, throughouthistory classic literature has played a significant role in shaping cultures,languages, and societal norms; andWhereas, classicliterature encompasses ageless works that have stood the test of time, thatcontinue to inspire and influence generations of readers around the world; andWhereas, the study andappreciation of classic literature foster critical thinking, encouragecreativity, and promote cultural literacy among individuals of all ages; andWhereas, celebrating ClassicLiterature Week will provide an opportunity to honor and acknowledge theenduring legacy of classic works and their impact on literature, arts,philosophy, and other disciplines; andWhereas, ClassicLiterature Week will serve as a platform to promote the importance ofpreserving and promoting classic literary works for future generations toappreciate and to learn from them; andWhereas, by recognizingthe beauty, depth, and significance of classic literature, we aim to encouragea renewed interest in reading, studying, and discussing these timelessmasterpieces.
