Nolan.(H.C.R.194)Offered by Representatives Morrissey of Bennington, Greer of Bennington, Corcoranof Bennington, and Nigro of BenningtonOffered by Senators Bongartz and PlunkettWhereas, Bob Nolan graduated from North Bennington High School, attended theUniversity of Vermont, earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the formerCastleton State College, and served in the U.S. Army, andWhereas, for three decades, he was a respected sixth-grade teacher at NorthBennington Elementary School, but his involvement with local youth extended beyondthe classroom to many athletic fields, drawing on his experience as a collegesportsman, andWhereas, at North Bennington High School, Bob Nolan coached basketball, cross-country, and track, and aside from school sports, he coached PONY league baseball,assisted with American Legion Baseball, and organized church youth group basketballcompetitions, andWhereas, perhaps Bob Nolan’s most impactful civic role in North Bennington was his70-year volunteer membership in the North Bennington Fire Department, including 40years as the organization’s dedicated president, overseeing administrative matters,dousing many a blaze, and attending to other emergencies, andWhereas, his leadership roles at the North Bennington Congregational Churchincluded trustee, deacon, moderator, and occasionally serving as the congregation’s layminister, andWhereas, later in life, Bob Nolan developed a second career as a house painter, andWhereas, he loved to hunt and fish, was actively involved as both a volunteer andmanager in the preservation and supervision of Lake Paran as a community resource, andwas a member of both the Loyal Order of Moose and the American Legion, andWhereas, Bob Nolan, a cherished citizen of North Bennington, and a man with a greatsense of humor who truly made the village a better place to live, died at 93 years of ageon October 11, 2025, and his survivors include his wife of 72 years, Florence; hischildren; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchild, nowtherefore be itResolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:That the General Assembly expresses its sincere sympathy to the family of Robert P.Nolan, and be it furtherResolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution tothe family of Bob Nolan.VT LEG #387503 v.1
