hr40/introduced.txt*HR1537*Introduced VersionHOUSERESOLUTION No. ___Introduced by: Garcia Wilburn, Lopez____________________________________1A HOUSE RESOLUTION celebrating the 35th anniversary2 of Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation.3Whereas, The Carmel Clay Board of Parks and Recreation4 was established on August 20, 1991, to serve the park and5 recreation needs of the residents of the City of Carmel and Clay6 Township;7Whereas, In just 35 years, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation8 has become a recognized leader in the field of parks and9 recreation, as demonstrated through its national accreditation10 through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and11 Recreation Agencies since 2014, accreditation through the12 American Camp Association since 2022, and by twice winning13 the National Gold Medal Award in 2014 and 2020, the14 country's highest honor for a park and recreation system;20262382HR 1537/DI 140 202621Whereas, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation manages 182 parks, five greenway trail networks, and more than 700 acres3 of parkland, providing open space and recreational4 opportunities for residents and critical wildlife habitats in one5 of the state's fastest-growing communities;6Whereas, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation provides7 programs to over 2,100 youth through the Extended School8 Enrichment program, serving Carmel's 11 elementary schools9 in collaboration with Carmel Clay Schools;10Whereas, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation provides over11 2,700 recreation programs annually serving 170,00012 participants including aquatics, arts and culture, fitness,13 senior, sports, wellness, nature programming, and summer14 camps;15Whereas, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation has one of the16 largest programs in the state dedicated to providing adaptive17 recreational opportunities for youth and adults, regardless of18 ability;19Whereas, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation's parks and20 greenways receive an estimated 5.7 million visitors annually,21 surpassing the annual visitation of Grand Canyon National22 Park; and23 Whereas, Over the past 35 years, Carmel Clay Parks &24 Recreation has enhanced the quality of life, making Carmel and25 Clay Township one of the best places in the nation to live, work,26 and play: Therefore,27Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the28General Assembly of the State of Indiana:29SECTION 1.
