1A HOUSE RESOLUTION celebrating the 35th anniversary
2    of Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation.
3Whereas, The Carmel Clay Board of Parks and Recreation
4    was established on August 20, 1991, to serve the park and
5    recreation needs of the residents of the City of Carmel and Clay
6    Township;
7Whereas, In just 35 years, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation
8    has become a recognized leader in the field of parks and
9    recreation, as demonstrated through its national accreditation
10    through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and
11    Recreation Agencies since 2014, accreditation through the
12    American Camp Association since 2022, and by twice winning
13    the National Gold Medal Award in 2014 and 2020, the
14    country's highest honor for a park and recreation system;

1Whereas, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation manages 18
2    parks, five greenway trail networks, and more than 700 acres
3    of parkland, providing open space and recreational
4    opportunities for residents and critical wildlife habitats in one
5    of the state's fastest-growing communities;
6Whereas, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation provides
7    programs to over 2,100 youth through the Extended School
8    Enrichment program, serving Carmel's 11 elementary schools
9    in collaboration with Carmel Clay Schools;
10Whereas, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation provides over
11    2,700 recreation programs annually serving 170,000
12    participants including aquatics, arts and culture, fitness,
13    senior, sports, wellness, nature programming, and summer
14    camps;
15Whereas, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation has one of the
16    largest programs in the state dedicated to providing adaptive
17    recreational opportunities for youth and adults, regardless of
18    ability;
19Whereas, Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation's parks and
20    greenways receive an estimated 5.7 million visitors annually,
21    surpassing the annual visitation of Grand Canyon National
22    Park; and
23      Whereas, Over the past 35 years, Carmel Clay Parks &
24    Recreation has enhanced the quality of life, making Carmel and
25    Clay Township one of the best places in the nation to live, work,
26    and play: Therefore,
27Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
28General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
29SECTION 1. That the House of Representatives celebrates
30    the 35th anniversary of Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation and its
31    positive impact on the residents of the City of Carmel and Clay
32    Township.
33SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
34    Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to
35    Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation Director and CEO Michael
