(a) The junior officers' quarters at Fort Dodge located inFord County, Kansas, is hereby declared to possess a historical interestto the state.(b) The state historical society is authorized to acquire bypurchase or by gift, grant or donation the following described property:A portion of the Northwest Quarter of Section 3, Township 27South, Range 24 West of the 6th P.M., Ford County, Kansas, moreparticularly described as: Commencing at the Northeast Corner of saidNW1/4, thence S29°05'43"W 1304.76 feet to the Point of Beginning,THENCE S21°08'59"E 62.71 feet, THENCE S75°52'34"E 37.69 feet tothe apparent right of way of Sheridan Drive, THENCE along SheridanDrive S13°35'03"W 86.87 feet to the apparent right of way of CusterStreet, THENCE along Custer Street N75°56'13"W 74.00 feet,THENCE N13°35'03"E 104.79 feet, THENCE N79°28'42"W 16.52feet, THENCE N40°05'56"E 38.25 feet to the Point of Beginning,containing 7640 square feet, more or less.(c) Conveyance of the property described in this section shall notbe accepted by the executive director of the state historical society untilthe attorney general approves the deed and determines that suchconveyance would convey such land in fee simple to the state ofKansas. Such property shall be acquired in the name of the state ofKansas.(d) Upon acquisition of the property described in this section asauthorized by this act, such property shall be placed under the controland management of the state historical society and the state historicalsociety shall establish and maintain such building and land as ahistorical landmark. The state historical society may adopt rules andregulations relating to the use, preservation, improvement, control andmaintenance of such property.Sec. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after itspublication in the statute book.I hereby certify that the above BILL originated in the HOUSE, and passedthat bodySpeaker of the House.Chief Clerk of the House.Passed the SENATE ______________________________________________________________________________President of the Senate.Secretary of the Senate.APPROVED __________________________________________________________________________________________________Governor.
