sc530/introduced.txtMISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE2026 Regular SessionTo: RulesBy: Senator(s) HartnessSenate Concurrent Resolution 530A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION APPLYING TO THE UNITED STATES�CONGRESS TO CALL A CONVENTION OF THE STATES UNDER THE PROVISIONS� OF ARTICLE VOF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES FOR THE� PURPOSE OF PROPOSING ANAMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION TO SET A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF TERMS THAT APERSON MAY BE ELECTED AS A MEMBER OF THE UNITED STATES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESAND TO SET A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF TERMS THAT A PERSON MAY BE ELECTED AS AMEMBER OF THE UNITED STATES SENATE.���� WHEREAS, the Legislature ofthe State of Mississippi hereby makes an application to Congress, as providedby Article V of the Constitution of the United States of America, to call aconvention limited to proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the UnitedStates of America to set a limit on the number of terms that a person may beelected as a member of the United States House of Representatives and to set alimit on the number of terms that a person may be elected as a member of theUnited States Senate.���� WHEREAS, the Secretary ofState is hereby directed to transmit copies of this application to thePresident and Secretary of the Senate of the United States and to the Speaker,Clerk and Judiciary Committee Chairman of the House of Representatives of theCongress of the United States, and copies to the members of the said Senate andHouse of Representatives from this state; also to transmit copies hereof to thepresiding officers of each of the legislative houses in the several states,requesting their cooperation.���� WHEREAS, this applicationshall be considered as covering the same subject matter as the applicationsfrom other states to Congress to call a convention to set a limit on the numberof terms that a person may be elected to the House of Representatives of theCongress of the United States and the Senate of the United States; and thisapplication shall be aggregated with same for the purpose of attaining the two-thirds(2/3) of states necessary to require Congress to call a limited convention onthis subject, but shall not be aggregated with any other applications on anyother subject.���� WHEREAS, this applicationconstitutes a continuing application in accordance with Article V of theConstitution of the United States of America until the Legislatures of at leasttwo-thirds (2/3) of the several states have made applications on the samesubject.���� NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OFMISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That the Legislature of the Stateof Mississippi applies to Congress, under the provisions of Article V of theConstitution of the United States, for the calling of a convention of thestates, limited to proposing an amendment to the Constitution of theUnited States of America to set a limit on the number of terms that a personmay be elected as a member of the United States House of Representatives and toset a limit on the number of terms that a person may be elected as a member ofthe United States Senate.
