Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A billTO AMEND THE SOUTHCAROLINA CODE OF LAWS SO AS TO ENACT THE "CHARITY PROTECTION ACT" BY ADDINGSECTION 33-56-65 SO AS TO PROHIBIT A STATE AGENCY OR STATE OFFICIAL FROMIMPOSING ANNUAL FILING OR REPORTING REQUIREMENTS THAT ARE MORE BURDENSOME THANTHE REQUIREMENTS ESTABLISHED IN CHAPTER 56, TITLE 33 AND TO PROVIDE SOMEEXCEPTIONS.Be it enacted by theGeneral Assembly of the State of South Carolina:SECTION 1. This act may be cited as the "Charity Protection Act."SECTION 2. Chapter 56, Title 33 of the S.C. Code is amended byadding:Section33-56-65. (A) Except wherespecifically required or authorized by federal law, no state agency or stateofficial shall impose any annual filing or reporting requirements that are moreburdensome than the requirements established in this chapter.(B)This section shall not apply to state grants and contracts or fraudinvestigations, nor shall it restrict enforcement actions against a charitableorganization.(C)The provisions of this section shall supersede any statute or regulation thatconflicts with this section.SECTION 3.
