1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to elections; expanding who may request a public information list;
1.3amending Minnesota Statutes 2025 Supplement, section 201.091, subdivision 5.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2025 Supplement, section 201.091, subdivision 5, is amended
1.6to read:
1.7Subd. 5. Copy of list to registered voter. The county auditors and the secretary of state
1.8must provide copies of the public information lists in electronic or other media to any voter
1.9registered in Minnesota or national chair of a major political party within five business days
1.10of receiving a complete written or electronic request accompanied by payment of the cost
1.11of reproduction. The county auditors and the secretary of state must make a copy of the list
1.12available for public inspection without cost. An individual who inspects or acquires a copy
1.13of a public information list must not use any information contained in it for purposes
1.14unrelated to elections, political activities, or law enforcement.
1.15EFFECTIVE DATE. This section is effective the day following final enactment.
