1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6Section 1. [10.52] SNOW PROFESSIONALS APPRECIATION MONTH.
1.7The month of January of each year is designated as Snow Professionals Appreciation
1.8Month in recognition of the state's desire to honor, recognize, and celebrate the contributions
1.9of snow professionals. Minnesota has thousands of private and public snow professionals
1.10who work tirelessly in winter months to clear snow; keep streets, sidewalks, and recreational
1.11paths safe; plow thousands of miles of roads; and manage ice with salt and sand application.
1.12Snow professionals monitor winter weather and track storms to dispatch appropriate snow
1.13removal crews and equipment. Professional snow services range from small residential
1.14shoveling services to large commercial plowing and deicing for businesses. Snow removal
1.15services represent a significant part of Minnesota's winter economy. The state declares that
1.16in order to educate the public, the governor may promote and encourage the observance of
1.17Snow Professionals Appreciation Month.
