1A JOINT RESOLUTION directing the Transportation Cabinet to include Josh
2 Martin on the Country Music Highway in Floyd County.
3WHEREAS, Josh Martin is an artist from the coalfields of Eastern Kentucky whose
4 musical works live somewhere beyond the outskirts of mainstream country music but
5 comfortably on this side of the ancient bluegrass tones of his Appalachian heritage; and
6WHEREAS, Josh Martin moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2013, where his
7 singing, songwriting, and guitar playing helped him make quick friends with the
8 legendary songwriting community on Music Row; and
9WHEREAS, in 2016, Josh Martin signed his first publishing deal with Sony/ATV
10 Music; and
11WHEREAS, in 2017, Josh Martin's pop country songs "How'd You Know" and
12 "Just My Luck" were released by Sony's Treehouse Records; and
13WHEREAS, Josh Martin left Sony's Treehouse Records for the freedom to create
14 and display his authentic take on American music; and
15WHEREAS, in 2019, Josh Martin independently released his album, "Nothing
16 Holding Me"; and
17WHEREAS, in 2022, Josh Martin and a few of his friends formed the Wood Box
18 Heroes and they released their self-titled album in April 2023. Their music has been
19 featured on SiriusXM, Spotify, and Apple Music, and they have made several
20 appearances on the Grand Ole Opry; and
21WHEREAS, Josh Martin's guitar playing was featured on the 2023 Grammy-
22 nominated Willie Nelson album, "Blue Grass"; and
23WHEREAS, Josh Martin has demonstrated immense talent, and his career is a
24 testament to his dedication to his craft and is worthy of being recognized by inclusion on
25 the Country Music Highway in Floyd County;
26NOW, THEREFORE,
27 Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

1Section 1. The Transportation Cabinet shall honor the accomplishments of Josh
2 Martin by including him on the Country Music Highway on United States Route 23 in
3 Floyd County, and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this Resolution, erect
4 appropriate signage denoting this designation.
