hb319/chaptered.txtENROLLED2026 Regular SessionACT No. 427HOUSE BILL NO. 319BY REPRESENTATIVE BAYHAM AND SENATOR BARROW1AN ACT2 To amend and reenact R.S. 24:972(A)(11) through (22), to enact R.S. 24:972(F), and to3repeal R.S. 24:972(A)(23) through (25), relative to the Louisiana Commission on4Civic Education; to provide for the membership of the commission; to provide5relative to the appointment of certain members; to remove certain members; to6authorize certain persons to designate a member; to provide for quorum7requirements; and to provide for related matters.8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:9Section 1. R.S. 24:972(A)(11) through (22) are hereby amended and reenacted and10 R.S. 24:972(F) is hereby enacted to read as follows:11§972. Membership; meetings; compensation; staff12A. The commission shall consist of the following members:13* * *14(11) One state coordinator of the Louisiana Legislators Back to School15Program, to represent the Senate program, appointed jointly by the president of the16Senate.17(12) One state coordinator of the Louisiana Legislators Back to School18Program, to represent the House of Representatives program, appointed by and the19speaker of the House of Representatives.Page 1 of 3CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; words underscoredare additions.HB NO. 319 ENROLLED1(13) (12) The state coordinator of Project Citizen, or his designee.2(14) (13) The executive director of the Public Affairs Research Council, or3his designee.4(15) (14) The executive director of the Council Leaders for a Better5Louisiana, or his designee.6(16) (15) One member to represent Louisiana Public Broadcasting, appointed7by the executive director of the Louisiana Public Broadcasting Corporation.8(17) (16) One member to represent the League of Women Voters, appointed9by the League of Women Voters of Louisiana.10(18) (17) One member to represent the Louisiana Press Association and one11member to represent the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters, appointed by the12president of each association.13(19) (18) One member to represent the Louisiana Center for Law and Civic14Education, appointed by the president of its board of directors.15(20) One member to represent the Louisiana Association of Non-Profit16Organizations, appointed by the chairman of the Louisiana Association of Non-Profit17Organizations.18(21) (19) One member to represent the Louisiana Chapter of the National19Association for the Advancement of Colored People, appointed by the president of20the Louisiana Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored21People.22(22) (20) The chairman of the Volunteer Louisiana Commission, or his23designee.24(23) Any additional member who has expertise in civic education or civic25involvement, as may be designated by three-fourths of the commission members26present and voting.
