A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring Spencer Parli Tew.
Whereas, Spencer Parli Tew was born in Indianapolis,
Indiana, in 1991, and from the beginning carried a joyful,
unmistakable musical spirit and a gift for storytelling that
would shape his life and work;
Whereas, Spencer was a proud 2010 graduate of North
Central High School, where he immersed himself in show choir,
concert choir, speech, and theater, earning accolades and
building the artistic foundation that would guide his future;
Whereas, After one year at Indiana University, during which
he released his first EP, Love by Dimension, Spencer continued
pursuing his calling with the courage and curiosity that defined
him;

Whereas, Spencer transferred to Boston University in 2011
and completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts in May
2015, carrying his Hoosier roots with him as he expanded his
craft and community far beyond Indiana;
Whereas, Following graduation, Spencer devoted himself to
the theater world in Boston, ultimately focusing his time and
talents on the Brown Box Theatre Project, a
Shakespeare-focused company for which he was both a
performer and a backstage leader;
Whereas, The Brown Box Theatre, as the worst of the
pandemic wound down in July 2021, brought Shakespeare to
central Indiana with the play Much Ado About Nothing. The
company performed in Fishers, Monrovia, Anderson,
Shelbyville, Columbus, Richmond, Rushville, and Plainfield.
Spencer was the driving force, meeting with local officials,
coordinating the tour, driving the truck with the equipment, and
starring in the play;
Whereas, Spencer's years of touring and building theater
with a mission were a beautiful dream of camaraderie and
purpose, forging lifelong bonds through art, travel, and a
shared dedication to creating something meaningful together;
Whereas, After receiving a cancer diagnosis, Spencer faced
years defined by treatment and recovery. Amid chemotherapy,
radiation, surgery, and healing, he rediscovered solace and
power in songwriting, finding his voice again and returning to
music with renewed depth and clarity;
Whereas, Strengthened by love and support, Spencer
completed an album and leaves behind a body of work that will
continue to move listeners and inspire artists for years to come;
and
Whereas, Spencer leaves behind the love of his life, Ryann,
and a loving family in his parents, Kip and Teresa; his
stepmom, Robin; his two sisters, Quinn and Riley Jane; his
in-laws, Nancy and Jeff; and a precious cat, Okie: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
honors the life of Spencer Parli Tew.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
Representative Mitch Gore for distribution.
